إن إدراك النص الأدبي كمثير إبداعي وتحويله لصوره إرتسامية في ذهن الفنان يعطى للعمل الفنى مضمون درامى واسع المدى يتجسد من خلال الألوان والتكوينات والشخصيات والصراع والحركة والظل والنور والإيحاء بالزمان والمكان مما يثرى العمل الفنى ويجعله مقروءا يحمل دلالات ومعانى وأحاسيس، وتتشابه سمات الصورة فى كل من الفن والأدب فى القيم الدلالية والتأويلية وتختلف فى الشكل المقدمة به، 
وجاء التعبير البصري منذ أقدم العصور محاولا تبسيط وتسهيل قراءة النصوص اللفظية والمكتوبة، ومن ثم كتسجيل وتوثيق للواقع وشخصياته وأحداثه، وأيضا كوسيلة إيضاح، ومع كل ذلك يعد كمادة دسمة للإستلهام ومنبع للأفكار للفنان.
